Sky.

“The sky is an overwhelming presence in the Southwest.  Few trees block the open vistas, and prolonged periods of overcast seldom shroud the deep-blue high-altitude sky.  Gentle billows of cumulus and ephemeral wisps of lofty cirrus decorate the daytime sky.  The sun illuminates everything with a crystal clarity.  Toward evening the western sky comes alive with a gentle play of pastels, and sandstone cliffs and granite mountains alike are awash with color seemingly from interior hiding places within the rock.  At night the stars and planets shine with a piercing brilliance.  All this lends an aura of openness and freedom and a sense of  communion with naturals truths.” – Kendrick Frazier

“Only in a place like this do earth and sky come together in such a way that they bridge into one, and in such a place a person could put up her arms and find herself in heaven.”  – Laura Pritchett
